My new novel is coming out 6 February 2025 with the wonderful Peepal Tree Press. BLACK ROCK book launch 15 years ago at Trinidad and Tobago High Commission in London. Such excitement: mixing rum punch for all the guests, alive with hope and sense of a dream fulfilled— shared that night with the great and good. When you publish your first novel it’s easy to think it will all go upwards in a clear direction. But of course it doesn’t. It was a great start. I’ve fallen so many times since then. Thank you to all those who’ve been there on this unpredictable and often perilous writing journey. Somehow, the writing doesn’t stop. This year book number four LOOK AT YOU will take flight. 🙏

I’ve known Neel Mukherjee for more than 20 years. Today he took me for Doubles in Clapham North. Delicious- delicious-doubles. His novel CHOICE is published in April. An absolute force of a book; a beautiful, sad, unforgettable book. The characters follow me around on a daily basis. I recommend it with all my heart.
